Outreach Coordinator Job Announcement


The Arizona Sidewinders Team is seeking an Outreach Coordinator to assist with marketing, game day preparations, home game activities, and community outreach.  The coordinator will also help the Arizona Sidewinders fulfill their goal to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within our team and our ultimate frisbee communities by creating opportunities for a greater diversity of players, with a focus on women and youth, as well as inclusion of marginalized genders, Black, Indigenous, and people of color, limited income communities, and physical disabilities. They will report to the LLC managers and work with other staff to address the needs of the team, and will attend meetings twice a month to report back on work accomplished.

Start Date: November 2021

Location: Arizona; in-person events mostly in the Phoenix area; remote office-based work 

Hours: Part time, average 10 hrs/week, some weekend and evening hours. More hours may be needed during game weeks. 

Pay: $16 – 20/hr (depending on experience)

  • Management

    • Recruit and oversee group of interns and volunteers to assist with outreach tasks

    • Coordinate meetings with outreach team to delegate work, provide oversight and feedback, and ensure completion of tasks

  • Marketing

    • Ensure the team’s media and marketing materials have a consistent brand and meets our DEI goals

    • Keep website updated on a regular basis

    • Coordinate social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)

    • Coordinate monthly e-newsletter to all our donors, business sponsors, and fans

    • Research and coordinate additional marketing through print media, radio, TV etc.

    • Coordinate marketing of home games to promote ticket sales – with the goal of selling at least 200 tickets per home game

      • Outreach to specific groups to sell tickets – sports clubs, local businesses, youth groups etc. 

  • Fundraising

    • Recruit business sponsors through creating business sponsor packet, setting up meetings with business sponsors, and confirming business sponsor pledge and benefits

    • Coordinate swag and other benefits for donors, business sponsors, and investors 

    • Ensure business sponsors are properly recognized at home games and clinics

  • Home Game Preparations

    • Coordinate stadium bookings for all home games

    • Coordinate pre-game clinics, half-time activities, and gameday staff

    • Coordinate video crew and live-stream contractors

  • Clinics 

    • Oversee outreach committee to set dates, times, and locations of clinics

    • Plan logistics of clinics in coordination with clinic instructors

    • Conduct outreach to attract participants in clinics to our target audiences: youth and women)

    • Plan clinics that include, engage, and create safe spaces for diverse audiences including marginalized genders, Black, Indigenous, and people of color, limited income communities, and physical disabilities. 


Job Requirements* 

  • At least 2 years of experience in outreach and community engagement or equivalent

  • At least 1 year of experience in fundraising either through business sponsorships, grant writing, donor development or equivalent

  • At least 1 year of experience with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives

  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Ability to work independently in a home office setting

  • A personal laptop and/or smartphone that can be used for work purposes

Preferred Experience

  • Living in the Phoenix region

  • Bilingual Spanish and English speaker

  • Familiarity with club and professional ultimate frisbee 

  • Experience with high-level sports teams

  • Experience managing a website

  • Experience managing contractors
